After a few months in a “honeymoon” townhouse, Steve and Nita lived in Carrollton, Texas for 22 years. When Steve’s parents needed help in their final years, Steve and Nita bought the family homestead in Fort Worth and moved there. They had always planned to retire in Fort Worth. In 2022, they downsized and moved into The Vantage at Cityview retirement community.
Steve and Nita worked together as business consultants. They conducted their business through Dossin Business Solutions, formed shortly after they were married and active until 2015, when they retired.
They also were heavily involved in ministry through their churches and through Living the Abundant Life Ministry. LALM primarily provided stewardship teaching through seminars sponsored by churches. Before Steve and Nita married, Nita had been involved with a mission congregation in up-state New York. Having found that they liked being part of a small church, they found Lord of Life Lutheran Church in Plano, Texas, a mission congregation to be their church home. After some time there, they found themselves in the home church movement for several years, where they learned a lot about how the Holy Spirit works when Christians gather and meet facing each other. They also spent a few years as members of Redeemer Covenant Church in Carrollton, Texas. After moving to Fort Worth, Steve and Nita joined Saint Paul Lutheran Church, where Steve had been a member growing up.
